Shih Hsin University encourages students with
Excellent Athletic Performance to apply to study any departments in the university, and set up this grant to assist the potential candidates.

The sports office plans the grant in accordance with the school's major sports development, as well as the requirements for selecting subsidized sports projects and quotas for each academic year.

Please note that there are two conditions for applying to our English-taught programs:

  1. High school graduation diploma.
  2. Submission of proof of English language proficiency equivalent to CEFR B1 or higher.

Grants are classified into two types: work-study and underprivileged student aid. Each student can only apply for one category. The eligibility conditions are listed below:

1. Work-Study

【First-Level Players】

  1. Those who have represented their country in the Olympics, Asian Games, World Games, World University Games, World University Championships, World Championships, World Youth Championships, Asian Championships, Asian Youth Championships or competitions organized by international sports federations.
  2. Those who have won first place in the National Secondary School Games or the National Secondary School Games in individual events or leagues.
  3. Students with exceptional athletic performance and a score of 95 or higher in technical exams will be admitted separately to SHU.
  4. Those who are suggested by the coach of the representative squad.

【Second-Level Players】

  1. Students with exceptional athletic performance and a score of 90 or higher in technical exams will be admitted separately to SHU.
  2. Those who are suggested by the coach of the representative squad.

2. Underprivileged Student Aid

  1. Domestic Athletes: Athletes at first and second level as described in the preceding paragraph who meet the requirements of the Shih Hsin University Dream Valley Scholarship Program and are recommended by their team coach.
  2. International Athletes: Excellent athletes of International nationality who face economic or cultural barriers and are recommended by the team coach.

The grant standards are as follows:

1. Work-Study

  1. First-Level Players: applicants that are approved will get a full subsidy based on the tuition and accommodation fees paid each semester. The subsidy is set to last four years. Subsidized students must do 72 hours of service learning each semester, which is managed by the Sports Office.
  2. Second-Level Players: approved applicants will receive a four-year partial grant for tuition. Subsidized students must complete 36 hours of service-learning managed by the Sports Office.
  3. An additional living allowance will be offered based on the coach's recommendation and approval through evaluation.

2. Underprivileged Student Aid

  1. Domestic Athletes: applicants that are approved will be fully supported based on the tuition and accommodation fees. The subsidy is set to last four years. Subsidized students must complete 36 hours of service-learning managed by the Sports Office. Applicants who are suggested by coaches and approved by the review may also get a living allowance.
  2. International Athletes: applicants who are approved will be fully supported for the tuition and accommodation fees paid each semester, as well as insurance and living expenses. Subsidized students must participate in 36 hours of service-learning organized by the Sports Office each semester.

The scholarship is available through an application process. Anyone who fits the application requirements can apply by submitting required documentation during the Sports Office's application period, which occurs each academic year.

The scholarship and stipend  for one academic year total approximately NTD 560,000 (about USD 17,500), which includes:

1.Subsidy for the full Taiwan visa application fee(receipt required for reimbursement after enrollment)
  NT$ 10,000 ≈ USD 312.50
2.Waiver of application fees for admission
3.Subsidy for full tuition and miscellaneous fees
  NT$ 120,000 ≈ USD 3,750
4.Subsidy for student group insurance .

  NT$ 500 ≈ USD 15.63
5.Subsidy for full accommodation fees
  NT$ 720,000 ≈ USD 22,500
6.Monthly living allowance will be paid directly to student
  NT$25,000 for 12 months totaling
  NT$ 300,000 ≈ USD 9,375
7.Subsidy for round-trip airfare also provided if the student does not return home
  NT$ 50,000 ≈ USD 1,562.50
8.Additional competition prizes for team champions or individual award winners
  approximately NT$ 10,000 each ≈ USD 312.50

If a player has a poor practice attitude or is lazy, resulting in a major degradation in training and competition performance, the coach may notify the review panel for permission, and the team may reduce or cancel the subsidy qualifying, depending on the severity of the problem.
